As you can see, I had a good excuse last year for getting out of running the marathon - yes it really was just over a year ago that I broke both my wrists in snowy Vermont. Thankfully they're fully mended now - but unfortunately I was unable to think of anything to beat it this year - so I'm back in training and worrying about blisters on my toes! It will be 7 years since I ran the London Marathon first time around - funny how I'd almost forgotten just how hard it is to run 26.1 miles!

I will be running to raise funds for BLISS - which supports premature babies and their families. Some babies are born too early, too small or too sick to cope on their own, and they need specialist care. I have seen something of how tough the early days can be through friends who have had prem babies - and also how wonderful it is to see their miracle babies growing up.

Do please give whatever you can - I'm hoping to reach my target of £2,500, and my company will match the first £1,000 of sponsorship, which will hopefully give a massive overall total in excess of £4,000 when you add on the Gift Aid. Don't forget to tick the Gift Aid box if you're a UK taxpayer.

And if you feel like cheering me and all the other runners on the day, I look forward to seeing you in London on 13th April 2008.
