I did it!!!!
my time was 2:31:46 and out of 50,000 runners I came 29,294th
Thanks everyone for all your wonderful support!!!
HELLO - Thanks muchly for coming to my fundraising page
If you're here it means you've found out I'm running - yes you heard correctly - RUNNING the Great North Run for Mencap!
This is a pretty big thing for me, I needed to give myself a challenge and something to focus on so I thought what better way to do that than by raising some money for a really good cause.
It's gonna be a major achievement for me as I have NEVER run a long distance before ! Many have said I'm crazy....but we all knew that anyway....so PLEASE be generous and sponsor me
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mencap gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thanking you and sending you lots of smiles and happiness for your support
Kathryn xxxx
P.S - if you sponsor me it'll help me train cos once Ive been given some money there is not getting out of it!
**** update ****
The training has fully begun, I can be seen runnning around Melton Mowbray donning a rather fetching pair of shorts and a delightful running top (with snazzy dayglow stripes!) If my fashion AND my muscles are having to suffer so much, I really think I deserve even bigger donations!!!
*****August Update*****
Thanks muchly to everyones support and encouragement (and gentle reminders to get my trainers on!) I've just returned from a few weeks away on holiday, but have been quite good and went running in Morrocco, London and Newark - so the training didnt go to a complete standstill. Currently I'm suffering with bad asthma and a chest infection so Im praying I recover quickly so I can really get into the swing of things in my sparkly running shoes of joy!
****hmmmmmm ******
just in case you were wondering: its impossible to run with an upset tummy LOL
I've broken my headphones :o(
but the money is rolling in and the advice and support is a big encouragement - thanks guys!!!!!
I'm learning lots about myself doing this training, its a good opportunity to regularly spend time with myself and figure things out. And not just the everyday things like pink skirt or green skirt? But big things like my own company isn't that bad and that actually I can be independent and do things for myself. This is as much now about raising monney for mencap as it is me growing up a bit and discovering a bit more who I am and where I get my identity from.... (God helps btw)
a little deep for a Sunday evening, but thought I'd share anyways
*****another update - I think its now September!!!! Its definately WET and COLD ******
I'm running 10min miles more consistently now, which is quite good for me as when I started I was much slower. my times improving each week, so I'm quite proud of myself. Went out for 50mins this eve and had to stop cos my bum ached - which was frustrating as I was still full of energy. Aiming for a looooooooooooong run on sunday as need to get my distance up. If you see me - challenge me and check I did it. If i didn't, then poke me hard!!!!!
Please if you know anyone who might want to support my cause, send them the link to my page, I'd love to raise more than the £500 I'm currently aiming for
***2WEEKS TO GO!!!!****
suddenly its crept up on me - tis time to get my head sorted to actually run this thing.
went out tonight and done my best distance/time so far: 8.2 miles running 9.7 minute miles so Im well pleased. In fact, the web site assures me I was runing 6.1mph which is faster than my car some mornings on the way to work when I get stuck behind a flippin tractor!!!
Im pretty sure that if all my online sponsorship comes in I'll have made my £500 taget. so its smiles all round at the moment.
*** 1 WEEK TO GO!!!***
well I have my underwear finally sorted - matching bra and pant so I'll be presentable if I end up in the hospital tent! I also have my running top and so get to iron my name on soon (with a little help)....it would seem its coming together.
£20 off hitting £600 which is awesome
Off for a 10mile run this afternoon, who'd have thought I'd ever say that......
extra update: Kathryn is very proud to announce that her Mum is coming with her next weekend! Love you Mum xxxx
