SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. Our trained volunteers and employees provide practical, emotional and financial assistance to the Armed Forces community to ensure they never battle alone.

Story

Hi, and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

On 21st June I took to the skies for the 'Big Jump' with the Black Knights, Royal Artillery Display Parachute Team, to raise money for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association(SSAFA) Forces Help.

I jumped in tandem with a Black Knights instructor, free falling from 13,000 ft at around 130mph! The free fall was awesome! The 'chute opened at around 5,000ft and I was allowed to take the controls (very momentarily) to do a couple of manoeuvres. After a few spins we landed safely to the cheers of the SSAFA team and my husband. It's the most exciting thing I've ever done - I wanted to go up again that afternoon! Everyone should do this - its awesome!

I set my fundraising target at £1500 which in itself was something of a challenge with only three weeks before the 'Big Jump' but with the support of LSC Group (my employer who have offered to match a £1 for every £1 I raise), my friends and family, local companies and yourself, I am hoping to bring this up to £2000. The support I have had so far has been AMAZING!

My sincere thanks to all of you who have supported me financially and with kind words of encouragement, and to those who questioned my sanity! My thanks also to LSC Group, and to the SSAFA team for their support on the day.

SSAFA is the leading national Charity committed to helping and supporting those who serve in our Armed Forces, those who used to serve, and the families of both.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: SSAFA Forces Help gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

SSAFA is a very deserving cause and the serving personnel, ex servicemen and women and their families need your help - please give generously to this very deserving cause.

Thank you very much.
