On Wednesday 17th September Katie and Laura from the Sutton Salvation Army jumped out of an aeroplane (thankfully attached to a parachute) to raise money for The Salvation Army Annual Appeal and their International Development Department. We were excited about the jump and a little scared however we wanted to raise as much money as we could for projects that we feel passionate about.
The Annual Appeal supports UK projects such as: - Homeless centres and residential hostels.
- Emergency Vehicles. Recently the Boscastle floods and the July 7 bombings.
- Care homes for the elderly & Family centres
- Facilities for people with drug and alcohol addictions
- As well as projects run at over 750 local church and community centres including our very own Church!
The International Department supports project such as: - Embrace. Working with vulnerable children by providing community support programmes.
- Anti-Trafficking. Such as the centre Laura visited in Malawi last year with ‘Journey’ scheme.
- Watershed. Providing the equipment, training and support to provide clean water to communities.
- Mustard Seeds. Enables the poorest people to help themselves out of the poverty trap by the means of a carefully designed system of loans in order to encourage income generation.
Share this with friends, family and colleagues and help us raise lots of money for The Salvation Army. So please sponsor us now!
