Back in 2006 I "ran" the London Marathon to raise money for Sobell House Hospice, along with my sister. Between us, we raised over £5,000 and both managed to complete the full 26.2 miles (even if I did it rather slowly).

Our motivation, to get us through the pain and keep us going, was our dad. Terry Beardall died in August 2002 from brain cancer. He spent the last three weeks of his life at Sobell House Hospice and to this day we are still touched by the care and support they give the patients and families there. No amount of fundraising by us will ever be enough to repay them and help them do the same for others.

To date, the family have raised over £10,000 for the Terry Beardall Oak Leaf Fund at the hospice, and I would like to add to that in 2009.

My finishing time in 2006 wasn't that great, so this time I have an added motivation to complete the route in under 5 hours. I've never been a very good runner but knowing that every step I take is helping such a worthwhile cause will spur me on to get a respectable time for a most respected and loved man.

Please give generously. It means the world to me.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sobell House Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
