Over the past three years I’ve become rather badly disabled due to my MS. A few months ago I wanted to prove that I’m not useless. I spotted the opportunity to do a parachute jump for the MS Trust. Everyone said ‘no way, you’re a nutter. You can’t do that!’ I decided ‘sod them, I’ll prove them wrong!’

On the 4th of July 2009 I did it, I really did it! There are more photos if you really want to see them at the side under the one showing.

It was absolutely brilliant. The staff helped me into the jump suit, harnesses, helmet and goggles. I was lifted into the aeroplane from my wheelchair and then, at 13,000 feet, we jumped. It was so amazing and so exhilarating – everyone should try it. The parachute opened and we floated down; the views were fantastic. I don’t remember the landing as Geoff, my hunky instructor, made it so easy.

Wow, I did it and I’ve got the certificate to prove it.

Thanks to my instructor, Geoff, and all the staff at the Hinton Skydiving Centre. They were brilliant. I never felt scared. My family, my husband Mark and my lovely son Sam, and my friends were there to support me.

My thanks especially to all those lovely people who sponsored me!
