Hospice Of St Francis - Walk with the Stars · 21 June 2008 ·

The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £6m we need each year to fund our free care.

Story

Hello! Not long to go now!

Thank you so much for clicking that link and coming this far!

I know I wrote all this on Facebook, but for anyone who hasn't read it...

As some of you will know, my Dad was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease about 2 years ago, and he passed away in August last year =0(

He spent his last days battling his disease at the new Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted. I didn't realise at the time, but we were incredibly lucky that my dad got a place at the Hospice at this critical time. There are now 11 beds, and each bed costs over £85,000 to run per year!

I can't stress enough what a wonderful place the hospice is, it helped to make an unbearable and horrific situation just that little bit easier on us all, especially my Dad.

In June I am taking part in 'Walk with the stars 2008' a 13 mile walk from Hemel to Berkhamsted to raise much needed funds for the Hospice. The walk last year raised £120,000 and this helped open up another bed in the in-patient unit.

Many thanks for your support.
