My story
Dear All
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
Our daughter Daisy and her twin sister Skye were born prematurely and as a result of life saving treatment Daisy sadly lost her hearing. Our initial reaction was one of complete devastation that was until we discovered Auditory Verbal UK which has transformed all our lives.
Auditory Verbal Therapy teaches deaf children to listen and speak with age appropriate language through an intensive 3 year programme. The charity itself is non profit making and therefore all monies raised are invested to help support deaf children and their families.
Watching Daisy's progress has been remarkable, she was given Cochlear Implants last May and within only 6 months of her operation she has achieved age appropriate language. I cannot underestimate the impact Auditory Verbal has had on Daisy's ability to hear and speak, this is all the more apparent as her twin sister Skye is hearing and it is almost impossible to tell who has hearing loss.
Your sponsorship will help allow other deaf children to reach their true potential and enable them to participate in a hearing world.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted email.
Thank you for your support.

Our results - and our children - speak for themselves! Auditory VerbalUK is the UK's only Centre for Auditory Verbal Therapy. Every day in Britain, two children are born with severe and permanent hearing impairment. This disability will leave many of these children isolated and failing to achieve their educational and social potential. Advances in hearing aid and cochlear implant technology, combined with AVT, enable children to learn how to listen, to understand what they are hearing and to speak for themselves. Please visit www.avuk.org to learn how you can help more children step into the hearing world.
