Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After the success of last years coast to coast cyling event, I am organising another testing challenge with the Lake District Calvert Trust, for a group to kayak the Caledonian Canal over a 3 day period, totalling 63 miles between the 12th and 14th July. We shall be doing this in double kayaks.
This I promise you, is no mean feet, for sitting in a kayak for 7-8 hours on and off and lifting your kayak up and around locks is going to be pushing the limits. However, as a group we all plan to have a fun, enjoyable time, whilst raising money for a fantastic cause along the way.
The Lake District Calvert Trust relies upon continuous fundraising as part of their yearly budget, and as such, events like this are extremely important. I would be extremely grateful if you could support and sponsor me in this event, as I have witnessed the great work that the trust does and it's impact on individuals.
The Lake District Calvert Trust is a residential outdoor centre with over 35 years’ experience delivering challenging outdoor adventure holidays for people with disabilities. The centre, on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake, offers a warm welcome; accessible accommodation and exciting breaks for schools, groups, families and individuals with their friends and carers.
They cater for people of all ages with sensory, learning or physical disabilities, including those with the most complex needs for which most outdoor centres cannot cater.
The Calvert Trust endeavours to offer life changing experiences which provide positive results that last long after the stay at the centre. Their instructors and volunteers promote learning and the development of self-confidence which enables their visitors to daily take up new challenges back at home.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and being part of this event.
