Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

Our son Sean passed away very suddenly on September 12th 2008.  Sean had ADHD and was diagnosed when he was 9 years old.  It was a very newly diagnosed condition then and children, parents and teachers new little about it.  This led to labelling, bullying and behavioural problems as they are unable to "put the brakes on".  Concentration is very hard as one side of the brain underworks, and the other side overworks and causes hyperactivity.  It is not a condition that can be seen and acknowledged visibly like a lot of other disorders.  This makes life very difficult for children and adults with this disorder as they are very misunderstood.  1 in 20 boys have ADHD/ADD and 1 in 25 girls.

Sean passed away a very loved adult by family and many friends.  250 - 300 people attended the service for the celebration of his life.  He is missed by many and Paul (Sean's Dad), myself and Clare (Sean's sister)  have to sadly carry on our family life without him.  He was a great blessing to have as our family member and is a great loss to us all.

Before Sean passed away ADDISS had no funds, but since that time, we have raised £2,347.89 through donations in memory of Sean, a fashion show arranged in our village and the just giving link.  Thank-you so much to everyone who has contributed so far.

The money will be used to help put the training in schools to help young people with ADHD and improve outcomes and overcome their challenges in truancy, behaviour and academics.  A proportion of the funds will also be used for counselling children with ADHD that have problems at school with bullying, peer pressure and crime.  This help was sadly not available not available for Sean when he was younger although his perseverence through life turned him into a very loving, smart, clever, funny young man.  Sean would want people that knew him, to smile and be happy when they remember him.  Sean actually said to me once "If I die tomorrow Mum, I have had a good life".

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ADDISS gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for your support.
