Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

In October i will be taking part in a trek to Morocco as well as a half marathon in London so it would be great if you could find it in your heart to sponsor me!

Now before anyone gets any funny ideas about sponsoring me to go on holiday i wanted to just to clear a few things up.

Firstly i will be adding money to this page every month which will cover the cost of the trip, therefore any money you sponsor me will all be spent on nursing terminally ill cancer patients.

And secondly this will be no holiday! not only will i be sleeping in a tent and going to the toilet on the floor but the trekking will be at altitude which means i can't drink in the evenings and i will probably get very sick! And just to back up my claim that this is no holiday please read the following quote from a man who completed the trek last year...

'It is, I think, the hardest thing I have done in my life...I am back safe and sound but when I was up there I really did wonder (and I'm not exaggerating here) whether I would ever see any of you again.'

And if that isn't enough to make you sponsor me then please do it in memory of my Mum! She is and always will be my hero, throughout her illness she did her best to stay strong and fight even when the doctors were telling us that it wasn't good, and i have been so lucky to have her as my Mum even it it was only for just 25 years!

Although it was our local hospice that made the massive diffence to Mum's life at the end Marie Curie Cancer Care supported us (especially me) for the whole time Mum was ill, and it was thanks to the knowledge they have given me that we were able to get her such great help at the time that was most important.  All of the money i raise will be spent at the Marie Curie Hospice Hampstead on caring for people in the same way our local hospice cared for Mum, i really want other families to have the same experience we had so please give generously.

Many thanks
