Skydive for M.E. · 15 May 2010

ME Research UK exists solely to fund high quality biomedical studies into the causes and treatment of ME/CFS. This illness affects approximately 250,000 people in the UK but is neither well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised. We fund highly regarded, peer-reviewed research worldwide.

Story

Dear Friends

Me & my brother Sam are doing a Sky Dive on the 15th May to raise money for M.E Research UK (see bottom of page) & we need your HELP with donations please. For those of you who don’t know our wonderful sister Amy suffers from ME & has had the illness for 5 years now & we really want to raise some money for her charity but we can’t do it without the help of our friends.

Amy is an amazing person, she was born profoundly deaf & has always had to battle throughout her life & unfortunately 5 years ago she was diagnosed with M.E. It is very hard to describe what ME is because unless you have it (it affects different people in different ways) or you have lived with someone who has M.E it is impossible to tell you the pain that it causes.

I wont bother with the scientific terminology (doctors still don’t know what causes ME) but after living with Amy for the past 14 months I will explain in my own words how it affects Amy....

Amy has a severe case of ME some days she can’t move from her bed & every day things that we take for granted such as walking Amy really struggles with, ME zaps your energy from you & a simply task such as cutting a piece of fruit can sometimes be a hard task for her. M.E (in Amy’s case)  takes away the simple things that we take for granted in life like reading, watching TV, listening to music, going for walks & talking to friends – it  affects your concentration  & the brain & body don’t function together so you can’t enjoy these tasks.

I don’t want to go on about the negativity of the illness because Amy will keep smiling & she will beat this I’m sure of it but we really need your help in raising money for ME (to allow more research to take place to find the source of the illness & to find a cure) no matter how little you can afford to donate it is really appreciated & we can’t thank you enough.

It kills me seeing her like this & I’d give anything to see her back to health like how she use to be – full of life & the life and soul of the party. Those of you who have met Amy will know that she has the kindest heart, is so caring & would do anything to help other people so please just take 2 minutes to donate.

Me & Sam are doing the 10,000 ft Sky Dive during M.E. Awareness week 9th-15th May, the Sky Dive itself will take place on Saturday 15th May at Maidstone Airfield in West Malling, Kent.

If you want to help us find a cure for M.E & donate then please donate online, we will also have sponsor sheets so if you want to pay directly to me or Sam then that is also an option. For more information on M.E. please log onto www.afme.org.uk.

We can’t thank you enough for your help.

Keep Smiling
