My story

SPONSORED HEAD SHAVE 5TH JUNE 2010 (gulp yes the 5th June 2010 - no hair Jules, OK Ok keep your wig on)

UPDATED 7TH DECEMBER 2010 - GILL LOST HER FIGHT AGAINST CANCER TODAY, ALWAYS WILL BE IN MY THOUGHTS  - thank you so much to all those who donated to the cause. Gill spent time on the Pembroke Ward in Salisbury and later in the Hospice both of which do an amazing job - JULES

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As I have hit 40 and then am told life begins, for me it does and so a new head of hair needs to be born too!  After finding out 12 years ago a close friend of mine had breast cancer and had to suffer hair loss during and following chemotherapy, we thought that would be the worst of it.  However some 12 years later and she has this dreadful disease once more, she never complains, she always puts others first and still worries now about me before I can ask how her day is going. She has just spent over 5 hours on her birthday attending chemotherapy and since the start of this intensive invasive treatment has no hair once more.  The fight continues.

I have decided therefore to show her my support and to try to raise funds for the charity of her choice and we have decided to raise funds for Pembroke Unit Fund, for cancer and blood disorders.  The Pembroke Unit at Salisbury District Hospital is the specialist treatment centre for local people with cancer and blood disorders (people do travel from all over to visit this specialised ward). Donations to the Pembroke Unit Fund help provide the best possible care for patients by funding the latest equipment and facilities.  My friend Gill attends weekly and I am proud of being her friend! Please support this very worthwhile cause.  I know my hair will grow back (well I hope it does), but for some they don't!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
