Story
The plan is to cycle from one end of the country to the other. However, with a couple of very hard 50 mile training rides now under my belt I am questioning the wisdom of this. It was inspired by two men. Lance Armstrong, cancer survivor and former winner of the Tour de France, and Geoff Thomas, also a cancer survivor and former footballer who has done a lot of work for cancer charities through cycling. Oh, and my friend Paul who did it last year and convinced me in the pub that it was a good idea.
In broad terms the plan of action is to get down to Penzance on Friday 23rd June and for the next two weeks cycle through Dartmoor, up the Wales/ England border, through the Lake district, over the Scottish Highlands and into John O’Groats. Sounds easy, but with some of the hills I’ve got to go over, at times I think I may need a little more inspiration and drive to complete the 1000+ mile journey. That’s where this charity comes in. With your help I hope to raise as much money as I can for Cyclists Fighting Cancer, a very worthwhile cause that aims to raise money for young people affected by cancer. Hopefully this will provide me with the impetus I need.
Many thanks. Keiran
