My Mother-in-Law, Maureen Bleasby, was diagnosed with mouth cancer back in April 08. She is doing really well and has had the most fabulous treatment from James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, Cleveland.
I want to give something back to this amazing hospital to thank them for their support and care. I have decided to run the London Marathon in aid of the fabulous pioneering centre based at James Cook University Hospital.
The HOLISTIC CANCER CARE CENTRE is a charity based in the grounds of James Cook University Hospital that provides complementary healthcare treatments, support and advice to cancer patients and their main carer. The centre does not receive any funding from the NHS nor the lottery and relies on charitable donations to continue with the very beneficial work that they do.
The Centre provides around 180 treatments a week which include aromatherapy, acupuncture, homoeopathy, reflexology, reiki, auricular acupuncture, counselling, hypnotherapy and bach flower remedies and needs around £180,000.00 a year to continue with this service.The treatments provided by the Holistic Cancer Care Centre aid patients through their initial diagnosis and their ongoing treatment of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormonal therapy treatments
