Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page, particularly when I know you are constantly inundated (as I am) by requests for sponsorship for various causes. However, always bear in mind that in the end it is for a good cause, and many people will benefit from your generosity.
This is the first time that I will be running the London Marathon (or any marathon to be honest!), and I am really glad to be running it on behalf of Afghanaid. I am sure that none of you need reminding of the dire state in which many Afghans live, and that this situation predates the current conflict. Afghanaid undertakes projects in Afghanistan which focus on empowering people (particularly women) to better their own lives. They do not provide handouts, but instead they provide the tools which people can use to improve their life and standard of living (eg through the provision of micro finance). All laudable aims I am sure you'll agree!
You will see that my target is fairly optimistic! Well...I wasn't sure if this would be my first and only marathon, so I thought I would go all out! Therefore....please be generous in your sponsorship. I am counting on your support. It will be very much appreciated. For those of you with training tips or tips for the day of the run, feel free to leave them on this page.

£5 will provide salts to treat 85 children with acute diarrhoea.
£10 will purchase improved wheat seed allowing a farmer to plant and provide for his family for one year.
£15 provides health care education for 18 children.
£25 buys 10 books for a children's resource centre library.
£30 provides the start up training for one basic veterinary worker.
£35 secures safe drinking water for a family.
£50 can educate 30 children in child rights.
£100 provides carpet weaving materials.
£500 builds a reservoir to provide a village with clean drinking water.
