Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby who needs us. Your donation can help Bliss ensure every baby gets the best care.

Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my web page.

I'd like to introduce you to my friend William George Morton. Billy was born on 18th December - 10 weeks premature, weighing just 2lbs 13.5oz. Billy is now doing fantastically well but if it wasn't for BLISS's research and Pembury Hospital's good work he wouldn't be here.

I can't begin to imagine the anguish and worry that parents of premature babies go through. The work that the premature baby charity BLISS do to support premature babies, their families and high dependency baby care units is totally invaluable. This is why I'm so very proud to be part of the BLISS London Marathon 2008 team.

One in eight babies is born premature or sick - that's 80,000 babies every year. Around 17,000 of these babies need intensive care and the figure is rising. BLISS is the only national organisation dedicated to working for special care babies that are born too soon, too small or too sick to cope on their own as well as supporting their families. BLISS are committed to improving the conditions facing newborn babies by: Supporting parents practically and emotionally. Promoting new developments and innovations in care; The BLISS Innovation in Care Fund finances ground-breaking research and development initiatives. Campaigning for change within government, parliament and other influential groups.

On a personal level I'm running the London Marathon, in memory of two incredibly special and loved little girls, Twiga Taylor (11.8.05) and Elsie Taylor (12.5.06), who sadly lost their brave battles. I wanted to do something to show they're not forgotten.

Please, please give generously (26 miles is a long long way and I've only got little legs!), donate whatever you can so that families can continue to benefit from the many services BLISS provide.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: BLISS will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Please pass on the link to this website to anyone who would be sympathetic to this worthy cause as I'd really really like to exceed my fundraising target.

Please sponsor me!

Hugest thanks for your support.
