St Catherine’s cares for patients and families who are affected by life-shortening conditions, at the hospice and in people’s own homes across Chorley, Preston and South Ribble. Our specialist care helps people enjoy the best possible quality of life to the end of life.

Story

Our Methodist Church at New Longton is celebrating it's Centenary in 2008 and we have adopted St Catherine's as one of our Centenary Projects.
St Catherine's has begun a large building scheme which, subject to funding, will include an attractive Orangery Cafe in the centre of the Hospice.  Unlike catering facilities often associated with public buildings, the Orangery will be specially designed to be full of light and optimism.  It will be welcoming and rejuvenating, a perfect place for families to relax together over a homemade cake and a refreshing cup of tea.  This will become the centrepiece of the Hospice building.
St Catherine's will openly invite local people to come to the Orangery not only as patients or visitors but whenever they wish.  This will create the positive, community atmosphere that they are aiming for.  It will bring a touch of normality into what often feels like an abnormal situation.
Although it is not expected that there will be a public appeal for this particular scheme we would like to help them make it a reality and use our Centenary Celebrations to make a real difference in our Community.
