The Methodist Church at New Longton celebrates its Centenary during 2008 and has decided  to support the Methodist Relief & Development Fund work in Mali as one of the Centenary projects.

With only 1,000 doctors and 600 midwives in a country of over 13 million people, 2 in every 10 children dies before their 5th birthday.
Working with a local partner, MRDF trains local people in healthcare and midwifery skills and promotes health education.
