At Northern Ireland Hospice, we care for more than 4,000 babies, children and adults with life-limiting illnesses, both in Hospice and in the community. We look after every patient's nursing, medical, social, spiritual and emotional needs with support for their family continuing into bereavement.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Any donation, large or small is very much appreciated !

For anyone who doesn't know us, we had our third child, little Keren, on 7th April 2006, and she was very quickly diagnosed with Trisomy18, or Edwards Syndrome.

She was with us for a precious 8 weeks,4 days, and she spent her last week, together with myself, her Mum, and her brother and sister, at Horizon House, the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.

It is almost impossible to put into writing, how wonderfully we all were looked after during this time, and since. I could never have imagined the amazing work that goes on here, words really cannot express the gratitude that our family feel, towards the Hospice, and the staff there.

Because, as someone once said "silent gratitude isn't much use", I have decided to raise much needed funds, for the Hospice, by attempting to climb the highest free-standing mountain in the world...Kilimanjaro!

EDIT: 28/11/2008

Well, I managed to get to the summit of Kilimanjaro! Possibly the most difficult physical challenge I have ever, and am ever likely to do!
To share in some of the experiences, and to find out more, over the coming weeks and months, please visit our site, KerenOwens.com , and please subscribe to the free email updates, which will keep you informed of new posts.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also an extremely efficient way to sponsor me: Northern Ireland Hospice Care will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Although my challenge is now past, the challenge of meeting the day to day running costs of the Hospice, is not over. The fantastic work that goes on here, would not be possible, without the generosity of people like yourself, so please still consider donating, even now that my trek is over.

Many thanks for your support....Glenn
