Story
We are so proud of our boy Samet who is 6 years old and is growing his hair to help raise awareness for Sepsis UK. All money raised will be donated to Sepsis UK and his hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust who provide real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other conditions.
Although a lot more people have now heard of 'Sepsis', I still feel that more awareness and recognition of signs and symptoms needs to be made. There are three stages of sepsis and unfortunately a lot of people only recognise the most severe signs ๐. This is when it becomes very dangerous and your life is now at risk. The more advanced this blood infection becomes the chances of a person surviving start to fall ๐. Time is crucial, every minute counts! If people were able to identify the earlier, milder symptoms then more lives will be saved ๐ช.
Unfortunately I (Samet's mummy) have had sepsis twice. The first time I was very poorly, however the second time I was aware of the symptoms and sought treatment whilst it was in its early stages and therefore I had a quicker recovery ๐
Samet's brother who is now 12 years old, unfortunately had sepsis too and was also treated for meningitis at just 3 weeks of age. We were very very lucky that he recovered from this ๐
As a family, we have always wanted to fundraise to help support Sepsis UK. What better way to do it through growing hair and supporting 2 charities ๐ Samet has always had long hair and we agreed that it would be a shame to cut it and have it thrown away when there are so many children and young people who would benefit from his beautiful hair ๐ When someone loses their hair, they also lose their confidence and if we can help to make some else's difficult journey a little easier then we want to help.
Samet is such a super hero and he loves telling everyone that someone is going to have his hair and how it will make them feel happy ๐
If you could please sponsor Samet, we would very much appreciate it. Every little bit counts and together we can make a difference!!
Fundraising is at the heart of our fight against sepsis. It raises awareness, and sparks the question: โWhat is sepsis? In this way, fundraising can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms. It also funds our vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. We also lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS.
