Well I did it!  In 1 hour 34 mins and 55 seconds.  Which although not breaking any records, it's a start.  I will definitely do it again......have to, got a time to beat now!  

When I know my split times (for each part of the race I will publish them, and I'll work out how to get some photos on here too.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.  In a moment of complete and utter madness, I was persuaded to consider the crazy notion of competing in a triathlon this summer - I thought I might give it a go, even if it was just to see if I could actually do it! 

When I found this triathlon and realised that it was on my doorstep, and was for a very worthy, local cause, that has the potential to help my family and friends in the future, I decided this was the triathlon for me.

So, in less than two weeks on Sunday 5th July 2009, I will be taking part in the Southend Pier Charity Triathlon.  It starts with a 400m swim in the local pool, followed by a 20km cycle along the seafront and finishes with a 5km run taking in Southend Pier.  Afterwards, who knows - maybe a well earned glass of wine??!!

Funds raised through sponsorship are in aid of: The Bosom Pals Appeal whichaims to raise £750,000 to improve breast screening services at Southend University Hospital.  This will enable the purchase of two full field digital mammography machines and associated IT equipment.  This improved technology will help to provide shorter examination times, better technique and image quality - helping to detect early and small cancers.
