Flora London Marathon 2008 · 13 April 2008 ·

We’re an ever-growing family of people who are passionate about supporting the everyday incredible care at Evelina London children’s hospital. Every pound you raise helps fuel life-changing care for children and families.

Story

As many of you know, I ran the London Marathon in 2004 and quite honestly had no desire to do it again!  However, Abby changes all that.  My niece Abigail was born in September 2003, but sadly she suffered catastrophic brain damage leaving her almost completely blind, epileptic and with cerebral palsy.  The reality of bringing up a child with severe disabilities was a huge learning curve for all the family; her care routine was demanding but she made it easy and she brought our family an immense amount of joy.

In February 2007 Abby contracted Chicken Pox Pneumonitis which very sadly she never recovered from and on March 8th she died peacefully.  The last two weeks of her life were spent at the Evelina Children's hospital in Waterloo,London, where she received outstanding care.  So, the reason I am running this gruelling race yet again is in Abby's memory and to raise money for Evelina so the outstanding care can go on.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Evelina Children's Hospital Appeal will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
