Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby who needs us. Your donation can help Bliss ensure every baby gets the best care.

Story

UPDATE:

We finished in 1hr 46mins and our knees just about held up!!

=================================================

You might ask why we're putting ourselves through the pain of 10 miles running?

Simple really. One in eight babies in the UK is born premature or sick - that's 80'000 babies every year. Around 17'000 of these babies need intensive care and my daughter, Sophie, was one of those. BLISS is committed to providing specialist equipment, training and research to help more survive and to support the parents at a very difficult time.

Sophie was born 10 weeks early, weighing 2lb 3oz, and was in intensive care for more than half of the 65 days that she was in hospital. We were lucky, Sophie was able to remain in Portsmouth but hundreds of others have to travel many miles to find the right cot with the right facilities - BLISS is working to change that.

Some of you will know that it was a bit of a rollercoaster ride with Sophie and without some of the specialist equipment BLISS has donated to St. Mary's Neonatal Unit, it may not have been such a happy ending. The fundraising starts here, so that I can say thankyou and so that thousands of other babies can benefit from your kind donations.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: BLISS will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thanks for your support
