I know how difficult it is to donate and give you hard earned cash to charity in the current financial climate. However, please take a moment to spare a thought for the unfortunate people and families who have been given the news that they or a close family member(s) has a terminal illness.

I, as many others have experienced this issue first hand on more than one occasion and the body blow it provides to all is immense.  Once the news has been digested, and the reality is that a loved ones time is close to end, which support network provides the help continue? That person/organisation is MacMillian Cancer Support, they provide nursing care, financial support services along with counselling to name a few. Without your financial donations, the exemplary service they provide may not survive.

To try and help, I am doing a series of events this year.

Event 1 – Longest Day Golf Challenge 2012

I will be part of a twelve man team and we plan to do 100-hole golf challenge at Longhirst Hall on June 21, which involves a 4am start on the longest day of the year, to cram the best part of 6 rounds of golf in one day.

Event 2 – Coast to Coast Cycle

Two day West Coast to East Coast bike ride 160 miles over the August bank holiday.

Event 3 – Great North Run 2012

September 16 13.1 mile run from Newcastle to South Shields

No matter how small the donation, please don’t hold back as you never know when you need such support, hopefully never, but please think of the people who do.
