Story
Hi,
Well I did it and was hugely relieved when I went past the finish line in 3hrs 58 minutes. An unscheduled toilet stop (inspired by Paula) cost me a few minutes and I hit the wall at about 18 miles but I struggled on and by the time I hit the home straight the crowds and atmosphere carried my legs over the finish line.
That and your generous donations of course.
I'm on target to raise possibly as much as £1,000 which far exceeds what I initially hoped for. So a massive, massive thanks to everyone who's been so generous. There was a moment when my legs wanted to stop at about 20 miles but the cash and the charity I was running for spurred me on no end - something no amount of training can give you.
And of course, it's still not too late to donate should you feel particularly flush.
I'm raising money for the Breast Cancer Campaign; a charity I'm sure you'll all agree is really worthwhile. There are some details about the work the charity is doing on the left-hand side of this page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Breast Cancer Campaign will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. All you need to do is enter your address on the donation page and Breast Cancer Campaign can then claim the tax back. Many thanks for your generous support, it really is much appreciated. Kevin
