Thanks for visiting my "Tacheback 2004" Sponsored Tache page...
-------------- Why am I doing Tacheback 2004? ---------------
Some time ago, my mum's side of the family was diagnosed as carrying a cancer gene which significantly increases their chances of getting cancer. After testing, our particular branch of the family are in the clear (relatively speaking - we just have the same chances as everyone else), but my aunt and cousin have not been so lucky. So this whole episode has brought the whole subject much closer to home for me.
------------------- What is TacheBack 2004? ------------------
It's encouraging men to grow a sponsored moustache for the month of September to raise money for the Institute of Cancer Research's 'Everyman Centre'. Everyman is Europe's only research centre dedicated to male cancers, such as testicular cancer which has doubled in the past 20 years, and prostate cancer which kills someone every hour.
So I thought I may as well give it a go. After all...
(1) I'm never going to do a 10 mile "fun" run or anything like that,
(2) I already have a goatee, so I'm virtually there already, and (3) many people think goatee's are ridiculous anyway, so why not go the whole hog and just have a ridiculous tache? So I made a start last night, and shaved off my beard. I think I may try and go for as many different styles of moustache as I can during the month... I also thought - if I'm going to have a ridiculous 'tache, I may as well have a RIDICULOUS 'tache... - so please sponsor us (me & my tache) now! Kev "The Kevling" Evans 2nd September 2004 -------------------------- Donating --------------------------- Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor my 'tache. The Institute of Cancer Research & Everyman will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. --------------------------- Update --------------------------- ############################# ## I've just hit my third target of £600! ## ############################# Thanks to everyone who has donated or sponsored so far - you're all stars! I'm absolutely overwhelmed by everyones generosity. PS. The amount shown below as 'raised offline' is the total pledged on my sponsorship forms as at 30/9/04, and includes the GiftAid to be reclaimed where applicable.
