Story
They may be young but they are eager to do something to help Pedal for Yorkshire in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care. The young cyclists, aged from three to 10, belong to two families in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, the Elstons and the Gurneys.
‘The children are great friends and want to do something together to support Pedal for Yorkshire,’ said Imogen Gurney, mother of Sam, Lizzie and Anna Gurney.
‘My mother, Francine Bressington, died of cancer and had a great deal of support from Marie Curie and we know of others who have been in the same situation. It’s quite important that the children think about other people and they enjoy riding their bikes so we thought this would be a good idea. It will be the first time we have done something like this together.’
Imogen and Caroline Elston, mother of Victoria, Charlotte, Matthew and Katherine Elston, hope to raise money for Pedal for Yorkshire with a ride along a local cycle track.
‘We are not sure what kind of distances they will be able to do but maybe they could do 10 miles between them all. We will have to see.’
