The Bhopal Medical Appeal funds two clinics giving free treatment to survivors of the 1984 Bhopal Disaster (the World’s worst industrial disaster). It also treats thousands of people who are being slowly poisoned by drinking water contaminated with chemicals never cleared-up from the disaster site.

Story

I'm Kieran and I am running the Brighton Marathon in April 2012 in order to raise money for the Bhopal Medical Appeal.

In 1984 in India, a gas explosion at a Union Carbide plant resulted in the exposure of toxic gases to hundreds of thousands of people. Thousands of people were killed, and many hundreds of thousands have been permanently affected or injured.

The Bhopal Medical Appeal works in India to help out victims of the industrial disaster through buildings clinics and recruting doctors. You can read more about the charity and their work at: http://www.bhopal.org/

I am aiming to run the marathon in under 4 hours as I have never run one before and I hope to raise £500.

If you are able to donate to this cause, please do.

UPDATE: I have managed to get my half-marathon personal best time down to 1 hour and 29 minutes, so I am hoping now to do the full marathon in 3 hours and 45 minutes.

UPDATE: 4 weeks to go till the marathon and my longest run is 21 miles in a time of 2 hours 45 minutes.

Thank you, Kieran.
