Mission Accomplished![]()
After 16 months of fundraising, training and yet more training It is all over.
I reached my goal of climbing Kilimanjaro on Thursday 25th January at approx 8:30am. The climb to the top was the most difficult thing I have ever had to do, but somehow I made it.
Lots of thanks to lots of people, including:
My Family and Friends who have supported me through this, both with sponsorship and words of encouragement.
Everyone who has been out training with me at some stage.
The entire January group, the Macmillan & Discover Adventure guys. Thanks for making what was a tough trip, in the main very enjoyable.
Everyone at work for the support and sponsorship.
Everyone I don't know who has sponsored me in doing this and all the companies especially B&A Snooker, Thwaites brewery and Haribo
Not sure where i'm upto with my fundraising as yet, but should reach at least £12,000 for this amazing charity.
Thanks again to everyone!!!
Good Luck to the Feb trekers, and here's to the next one
Right I'm off to the pub for a pint and Cheese Burger and will not feel guilty in the slightest!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's almost here
Just one week to go until I depart to Tanzania. Will those many days spent walking up hill and down dale really pay off? Will missing the Sunday morning edition of Hollyoaks to get wet up a big hill at 7am really have been worthwhile?!?!?!
It's to late to worry about that now, the Holiday (yes, some people actually tell me to have a good holiday....................) is almost upon me.
I would like to thank everyone who has been out walking with me at some stage or another over the last few months, and also all the people who have helped with fundraising ventures as well. But most of all I would like to thank all those who have donated to this fantastic cause, as this is what this trek is all about - raising money for Macmillan.
At present I have raised about £10,000 and hope to improve on that in the next month or so.
So once again Thanks to all who have helped and encouraged me along the way. Oh and thanks to those who have taken great pleasure in reminding me that I have to climb a horrendously steep hill!!!
Thank You ![]()
**TRAINING UPDATE**
It's now 1 week until operation BIG HILL comes into effect. However, the training is going well with the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales becoming second homes.
I have conquered the Yorkshire Dales 3 peaks twice (in 1 week), completing the quickest in 10 hours 25 minutes.
Hellvelyn has been conquered in various weather conditions from blazing sun to gale force winds and dense fog.
The biggest challenge of all was completed on the 21st October when I climbed the highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis
But this is all small time with the challenge which begins on the 19th January, so keep the sponsorship coming and make my pain and suffering over the last few months (and the next few) worthwhile

Many Thanks to everyone who attended the John Whittle Kilimanjaro Dinner at Stanley House on the 16th June. The evening was an amazing success, thank you to everyone who donated raffle and auction prizes and of course everyone who attended and dug deep all night.
We raised over £4000 from that night alone. For those who couldn't attend but made donations, again a big thank you to you all.
As a result of this I have decided to go for it and raised my Fundraising target from £6500 to £15,000, so please, please, please keep the support coming![]()
The support I have received from everyone has really made doing this worthwhile.

Thank you for visiting Eddie's fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
As some of you may be aware, I have decided to take a gentle stroll up Mount Kilimanjaro.
The reasons I am doing this are:
1: I am mad
2: I was drunk when I signed up to this
3: As a tribute to my Dad who battled so bravely against this terrible disease for over 18 months, only for his fight to end in January.
4: As a BIG THANK YOU to the Macmillan nurses who looked after my Dad, my Mum and the rest of the family and gave the support and courage to carry on.
The training and fundraising will be a challenge in itself. Then we get to the trek, with Kilimanjaro being just short of 20,000 ft above sea level, well I struggle taking the lift to the 4th floor at work..........it will involve many hours of pain and torture. Which I'm sure will make a few of you smile!!! However, the physical and mental pressure we will put ourselves under to complete this challenge is nothing compared to the hard work of Macmillan staff and the suffering of the people they care for. Please give generously but any amount sponsorship given to support us and Macmillan is very much appreciated and will go a long way to helping Macmillan help others.
If the money we raise helps stop just one person from suffering this terrible disease then it will have been more than worthwhile.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor us now! Many thanks for your support. P.S. No you can't have a refund if we don't make it!!!!
