VSO is an international development organisation that brings people together to share skills, build capabilities, and change lives to make the world a fairer place for all. Everyday, VSO volunteers are working to empower people living in some of the world’s most marginalised communities.

Story

Hello!!

THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to the cause, and for you new visitors, thanks for checking out my Giving page!!  I will be meeting 23 of my Accenture brethren from around the world in Nairobi on October 8th to check out some VSO project sites and of course to do a little trek to the top of 19,340 foot Mt. Kilimanjaro. So far the team has done a great job of raising money for VSO, but there is still time for you to help out.

So, what is the story on VSO??? VSO is an international development charity operating in over 30 of the worlds poorest countries. Volunteers work towards specific aims in education, HIV and AIDS, disability, health and social well-being, and to secure livelihoods. A large number of Accenture employees have taken leaves from their jobs to assist in these important VSO initiatives that drive real tangible change. A portion of our trip will be dedicated to visiting these VSO project sites in East Africa.

Now, regarding those donations! With everyone's help, to date (September 30, 2009), we have cleared both my personal goal to raise $7,500 AND THE stretch goal of $10,000!!!  Total funds raised to date is almost $12,000 - this is awesome; I can not tell you how appreciative I am. Just a reminder, every nickel that you may choose to donate goes directly to VSO - IT DOES NOT pay for my trip!!

Should you choose to help by utilizing this secure site you will find that the Brits have not allowed the functionality to donate in anything but British Pounds. I have provided a handy US Dollar conversion chart to assist you.
