Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Just to give a little background into my reasons for doing this charity climb,

My Nan (Hilda) had been battling with Alzheimers Disease for several years now and has unfortunatly very recently passed away. When i was younger i didnt understand it and i thought it was just a little memory loss, she used to call me about five different names before she got the right one and i just used to laugh and think aww bless her she's getting old now. The memory loss got worse and worse as the years passed and it got to the point were it was diagnosed as Alzheimer's Disease (What is Alzheimers?), it was unfortunatley diagnosed too late to prescribe her the drugs that are used to slow down the progress of Dementia (There is no cure!). Year after year since we have had to watch helplessly as my Nan slowly becomes in effect a hollow shell, it is soul destroying to watch helplessly knowing theres no cure and theres nothing you can do to help your loved ones. Alzheimers really is a horrible disease it caused my nan to go into a care home were she required alot of help and supervision in even the most basic of tasks such as eating. I am doing this climb in Honour of Hilda as i feel its the only way i can help by raising peoples awareness and generating money through donations for future research into a cure for this illness.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story! Please make a difference to peoples lives in the hope another family does not have to go through this pain in the future. by donating here on my fundraising page!

Please read on......

I'm going off to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in June 2010 to raise money for the Alzheimer's society, they conduct essential reasearch into dementia - a life destroying illness for which there is currently no cure. Inspired by other friends organising fundraising events i would hopefully like to do my bit.
In order for me to be able to do this i must raise a minimum sponsorship of £3,500. Some of this money will go towards the research of Alzheimers disease and some towards the trip. I aim to raise peoples awareness and promote peoples willingness to go above and beyond to raise money for this charity.
Please sponsor me for Climbing "the tallest freestanding mountain rise in the world". Anyone who doesnt know me too well i assure you this disease affects my close family and other people around me that i know and i have nothng but 100% commitment to helping this charity research for a cure.

As highlighted my minnimum sponsorship is £3,500 to which i will be donating myself. I am kindly asking people to dig deep so i can try and smash this target.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Kindest Regards

Mark
