Story

Hi again!

After having done 'COLD' (Husky Sledding in the Arctic) in 2006, 'HOT' (Desert Trek in Namibia) in 2007 and 'UP' (Machu Picchu Trek in Peru) in 2008, this year I'm going to try and climb Mount Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania, Africa! Mount Kilimanjaro, or 'Kili', is the highest mountain in Africa, and the highest free standing mountain in the world! I will be trekking between 1,000 and nearly 6,000 (!!!) meters altitude, encountering all sorts of weather, from hot in the savanna plains to freezing conditions high up on the mountain, and camping out in basic tents. I will walk and climb for up to 8 hours a day (15 hours on the summit day!), but have some acclimatisation walks/days as well, to reduce the chance of possibly serious altitude sickness, or Acute Mountain Sickness. I'm going with 'Across the Divide' again, a British organisation, who will donate money to local villages we travel through, to enhance sanitary and educational facilities.

If 9 British celebrities can do it, so can I!

Personally I'm raising money for The British Heart Foundation (BHF), a charity close to my heart (no pun intended!): my dad died of heart disease at the age of 60, well before his time! I'd like to try and help prevent other people suffering the same fate. ALL MONEY raised will go 100% to BHF, as I've funded the entire trek myself!!! Please help me raise much needed funds for this worthwhile charity.

As usual all sponsors will be invited to my 'post trek photoshow and presentation'.

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Heart Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Thanks,

Pete
