I am raising money to help in the awarness of pre-eclampsia, as I have been touched personally by this condition.

Pre-eclampsia is a complication of pregnancy. Women with pre-eclampsia have high blood pressure, protein in their urine, and may develop other symptoms and problems. The more severe the pre-eclampsia, the greater the risk of serious complications to both mother and baby. Pre-eclampsia is thought to be due to a problem with the placenta, and so delivering the baby early is the usual treatment. Medication may be advised to help prevent complications.

Recently my best friend had a baby, called Jack. She was rushed to hosipital at 28 weeks gone. She was kept in and monitored until Jack felt like appearing into the world!...but due to the pre-eclampsia condition he was delivered early - weighing in at 3lb 9oz. He was monitored for 31 days and then he finally was discharged from hosipital. Mummy, Daddy and baby are doing well.

But some cases are more severe - in the case of my sister-in-law Carol, she was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, but in this case sadly my nephew Gerard died in his mothers womb. With this case being realised too late for baby Gerard - it was now a race to save the mother - Carol. She drifted in and out of conciousness and we very nearly lost Carol aswell. But the support of the hospital and close family got her through the bad times.

Now I wish to raise funds to try and stop this from happening to other families by raising awareness of the condition. Action on pre-eclampsia is a charity which aims to raise public and professional awareness, improve care and ease or prevent physical and emotional suffering caused by this potentially devastating condition.

I am running the Bupa Great Yorkshire run on the 6th of September with my best friends; John Hough, James Booth (Jack's daddy) and Russell Beal (Jack's uncle).

Any donation is appreciated as it all counts!

Thank you
