Monday 17th March 2008 - After the run
Yes, we did it! Despite the weather looking miserable, it was actually great running weather - cool and refreshing. Pete got a fantastic time of 2 hrs and 2 min and Kim did it in under 3 hrs (2 hrs 54 mins). The crowd support was amazing and very uplifting. We are feeling our poor muscles today though, but are looking forward to doing it again next year. Pics to follow!
Thanks to everyone who has donated - for those that haven't, you have still got 3 months to do so! ___
Kim and Pete are on a quest to complete their very first half marathon in their home town of Hastings. On 16th March we will be running our little socks off.
Why we did it We are aiming to raise lots of money for The Tree of Life for Animals (TOLFA), an animal charity in India that is very close to my heart. It was set up in 2005 by my close friend Rachel, a Veterinary Nurse who I met and worked with in 1995.
They will treat every animal that needs help, whether it be dogs, cats, cows, goats, monkeys, buffalo and even peacocks. In India, a little goes a long way but there are always things to buy; food for the dogs, materials to repair the cattle shade, important vaccinations and medicines and of course staff to perform operations and care for all the animals that are in need.
The Tree of Life for Animals (http://tolfa.org.uk) has already helped the lives of thousands of stray and working animals in its short time, as well as the people who live in the local area. I want to make sure it continues doing its fantastic job now and for years to come.
Please help us make all the hard work worth it! Thank you
And don't forget to GiftAid it! (if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.)
