*******MARATHON DAY UPDATE*******

It was incredibly hot in London today, but I completed the marathon in 5 hours 13 mins and 26 seconds........3 minutes quicker than I was way back in the early 90s - who says everything slows down in old age??!!

Thank you to all who have sponsored me - it is an incredible show of support.

Having last run the London Marathon in 1993, I thought it was about time I took my trainers out of hibernation and gave it another go.  However, 15 years have gone by and I am not as fit or young as I once was, so need all the motivation and support I can get in order to get me pounding the streets during the long, dark winter ahead!

I am raising money for Mencap, a charity of which I have seen the direct benefits first hand over the last couple of years.  I know that the credit crunch is affecting us all, one way or another, but anything that you are able to donate will be much appreciated by Mencap, and will spur me on to do another couple of miles in the cold, dark (and probably wet) evenings!

Training is going well - I now regularly run between 6 and 10 miles without too much difficulty, and completed the Norwich Half Marathon at the end of November.  My furthest run so far is 18.5 miles (Mid-March) so I am getting there!

Finally, I am running this Marathon in memory of my original running partner - my Dad, who literally held my hand around a fair few races in the early 90s..........and who I miss very much.  He would have  celebrated his 60th birthday just a few days before this year's London Marathon and I am pretty sure he would have wanted to run it himself to celebrate that particular milestone.

**Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far - It is very much appreciated**

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mencap gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
