Event: 12 Kirkham Challenges in 12 Months
We provide exceptional care and support to people affected by life-limiting illness

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Howard Kirkham was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) Brain Tumour in January 2013 and fought with determination until 17th April 2014 when he died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the East Cheshire Hospice (ECH) in Macclesfield.

The ECH gave Howard and the family invaluable support during a tough and very emotional time. In caring for Howard, nothing was too much for the staff, and for the rest of the family, they provided space, support, and love.

Following on from the '12 Kirkham Challenges in 12 Months', and to raise money for the ECH and the other chosen charities, Stuart Kirkham and 10 wonderful friends are now cycling the 280 miles from Blackpool Tower to The Tower of London.

Previously Stuart and his wife Emma both ran 10km for the first time ever, for ECH. They completed the Arley 10k. Emma in 67mins, Stuart in 55mins. Well done to them both.

In August / September, Rhona Kirkham (wife of Richard) successfully achieved 3 tough challenges, all within only 2 weeks!!!

1). 31st August - Sprint triathlon: 400m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run)

2). 7th September - Great North Run - 13.1mile run from Newcastle to the South Shields coast - Will Waters is doing this also.

3). 13th/14th September - National 3 Peaks Challenge: Climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24hours with Richard, Stuart, Rhona's brother Andrew, and others.
