Story

Babette Lilly Morton age 4

Hi, This is Babette Morton's JustGiving page. We are raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity where she is a patient.

Babette is 4 years old and lives with her mum and dad (kirsty and Andrew),her big brother Sonny, and little sister Stevie. Babette has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and is a patient at The Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital in Surrey. Leukaemia is a cancer of the blood and she will need over 2 years of chemotherapy treatment at the hospital. She was diagnosed in Feb 2011 and has already endured numerous operations and intensive chemotherapy treatments to rid her body of the Leukaemia cells. So far she is responding well to treatment, but we never take this for granted. Other children that we have met at the hospital have not been so fortunate.

The Royal Marsden is a fantastic hospital and we know that she is receiving the best treatment that is currently available. However there is much more work to be done as many children are still dying of cancer each year. The donations you make will fund the research into childhood cancers.By donating to The Royal marsden Cancer Charity you will not only benefit the children who are patients there, but ALL children who are diagnosed with cancer. The hospital has a world renowned institute which is constantly developing groundbreaking and pioneering new treatments. These cancer treatments are shared worldwide ensuring that everyone suffering from cancer benefits from their research. Your money WILL make a difference. 30 years ago childhood cancers were a death sentence. Thanks to clinical trials (which Babette is taking part in) and research, Childhood Cancer is now survivable for many. However the chemotherapy is still extremely dangerous with many nasty side effects. (It is so dangerous that we have to administer it to her every night with gloves, apron and mask on). Scientists at The Royal Marsden are looking for ways to minimise the side effects and to tailor the medicine to each child to ensure better success rates with minimal side effects.

Our aim is to raise £5000 for the charity. We know that this is a big challenge and may take some time, but the good thing about JustGiving is that the money goes straight to the charity as soon as it hits this page, so they benefit straightaway. We appreciate that these are difficult times, but if you are a bit cash strapped then maybe you could donate £1 by text? We have set up a justtextgiving number. You can donate from your mobile phone and it gets added to your bill (or deducted from your phone credit). There are no extra charges and every penny goes to The Royal Marsden. Remember to gift aid by responding to the text you will receive after you have donated. You can make a donation of £1 if you like, and believe us we would be very grateful if you did.|You can donate £1,£2,£3,£4,£5 or £10. The code is BABS57 followed by the amount (eg BABS57£10) to 70070.

Babettes 8 year old brother Sonny has already collected £77.02 selling pin badges to neighbours.

In the following months we are setting ourselves some challenges so please keep checking our site for updates.

Many thanks for visiting our page and please call back again.

About JustGiving.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
