When Kuldeep suggested climbing Kilimanjaro to celebrate his birthday I was hoping he would eventually forget about the idea. Unfortunately he didn’t!!
Climbing Kilimanjaro for charity is a once in a life-time experience. Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the highest freestanding mountains in the world, towering 5,895m above the surrounding Tanzanian plains. The prospect of walking through the wilderness for 7 hours a day over 6 days and being exposed to temperatures of up to minus 20 degrees is not something we are looking forward too. There is no better motivation to keep going and reach the top summit than when you know a good cause is behind you.
We will be starting the trek on Sunday 6th February and finishing (all being well!!) 6 days later.
We have decided to raise money for Addison’s Disease Self help group to promote awareness and raise funds for further research into the condition. Not many people have heard of this condition let alone know what it is.
Addison’s disease is a rare, chronic condition brought about by the failure of the adrenal glands. Lifelong, continuous treatment with steroid replacement therapy is required. With the right balance of daily medication, most people with the disease are able to continue life much as it was before their illness.
Please dig deep and give as much as you can afford to a worthy cause.
