The ME Association campaigns hard to get ME recognised as a severe neurological illness. Our helpline provides essential information and support to adults and children who have ME/CFS, and to their families and carers. We also fund biomedical research into the physical nature and causes of ME/CFS.

Story

Thanks everyone for the continuing donations, still a way to go to hit the £500 target!

As many of you may be surprised to learn, the training is actually going well and I'm looking at a time of around 1h 10m for the 10k which is not bad going considering I was looking at almost double that when I started!

My chosen charity is The ME Association as this is an extremely underexposed and misunderstood illness.

There are a number of different names for what is an "illness of uncertain cause" affecting many thousands of people. Currently it is estimated that some 250,000 people in Britain are affected by an illness which many people still refuse to take seriously or even admit exists.

  • Myalgic Encephalopathy or "ME"
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or "CFS"
  • Post-Viral Fatigue Syndrome or "PVFS"
  • Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome or "CFIDS"

All types of people at all ages are affected. Severe and debilitating fatigue, painful muscles and joints, disordered sleep, gastric disturbances, poor memory and concentration are commonplace.

Please give generously, if not for the people who suffer this illness but for the fact I'm doing something even remotely physical which should give you all a laugh.
