Carbon Compensation is an alternative to carbon offsetting developed by the Koru Foundation.

This scheme is a positive method for individuals and companies actively involved in carbon reduction initiatives to invest in poverty reduction projects in countries vulnerable to the effects of climate change and unlike many traditional offsetting schemes, we guarantee that 100% of your money will go directly to our projects.

By funding a Koru Foundation project, you will help to improve a communities access to health, education and employment opportunities at same time as replacing dirty and unhealthy traditional fuels such as paraffin and wood through the installation of low carbon energy systems which are better for both the environment and people's health.

European Travel - Flight

For the cost of £26 you can compensate for up to 1 tonne of carbon dioxide which would cover most short haul flights between European destinations.

Middle East/North America Travel - Flight

For the cost of £90 you can compensate for up to 3.3 tonnes of carbon dioxide which would cover most medium haul flights from the Middle East or North America to Europe.

The price of compensating for 1 tonne of carbon is based on the shadow price of carbon, which is the estimated value of the damage caused by one tonne of carbon dioxide, calculated independently by the UK government and set at £26.
