Story
Hello,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those of you who know me know I used to be quite a keen runner who harboured ambitions of running a marathon. In 2010 I was diagnosed with asthma and told not to run as it was leading to severe asthma attacks. So that was it. Then last year, following a health scare, the asthma seems to have abated, so I’m taking the bull by the horns and I’m going to run a marathon. In 15 weeks. In Edinburgh. This means some rather intensive training...
I’ve chosen to run the marathon to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity that does amazing work with people, and the families of people suffering from cancer. They offer services ranging from funding specialist nurses, providing emotional support and counselling to carers and families and even financial support to help with the costs of cancer care. Almost all (98%) of their funding is through charity fund raising.
Why did I choose Macmillan? Last autumn, following significant, sudden weight loss I was referred for tests for some aggressive forms of cancer. I was lucky enough to be given the all clear, but probably much like yourself, I have family and friends who’ve not been so lucky and some who’ve benefitted from the support of Macmillan. So while I can do something, please help me to raise money for this very worthy cause!
Thanks very much for your support,
Chris
