Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've dusted off the bike and joined the gym and hoping I can manage to cycle the 60 miles from London to Cambridge on 24 July. I fear the hardest part will be getting up early enough to be in Cambridge at 5.45am in order to get the coach to London to ride back to Cambridge again!

I'm raising funds for my two churches:

All Saints' Rampton is a thatched church in a tiny village; we are currently in the middle of a £210,000 building project to rebuild the west wall and re-thatch the roof. The last time it was thatched was 70 years ago, at a cost of £113 - the prices have gone up just a bit in those 70 years!

All Saints' Cottenham is in the process of addressing a problem with wet rot in the pew bases. At the very least we will need to repair the damaged wood; but the PCC is hoping that we will undertake a re-ordering of the building: levelling the floor, replacing some pews with chairs, updating the 30 year old sound system, and improving access for the disabled. At the moment final decisions are still to be made, but we are confident that whatever the extent of the work, it will not be cheap!

I would love to raise £1000 for each of the churches, and am grateful for any contribution you can make towards this. I will divide the funds raised evenly between the two churches. I have received nearly £900 already through direct sponsorship - so only another £1100 to go . . .

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
