As members of the public we take a lot for granted and assume that certain services will be on call for us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Unfortunatly we rarely give a thought to how these things are funded. The London Air Ambulance is one of these services. We see it streak through our skies, and from time to time hear of temporary road closures while the LAA attends the scene of a serious incident, but how many people knew this is partially privatly funded.
Following a serious increase in its usage, but no increase in funding, there is a possibility that this service may have to remain grounded each weekend. And with the summer approaching, with more bikes on the road, more distractions as we drive, and dare I say more alcohol being consumed.... the demand for this service will be high.
Lets make sure the LAA receives every penny it deserves, and make sure this essential service is available to Londoners every day of the week, for a long time to come.
Spread the word to anyone you know, and lets get this service some money.
