Fire Fighters 24 Hour Ladder Carry
WHO IS ROSY?
ROSY is an organisation, which raises awareness of the need for respite nursing and promotes fundraising to boost the extremely limited resources of Oxfordshire’s Children’s Respite Nursing Team.
Respite Nurses specialise in looking after acutely or chronically ill children and babies - in their homes.Often, these children have conditions for which there may be no cure. The wide-ranging duties of the nurses include every aspect of daily care, from administrating medicine to performing physiotherapy sessions or simply interacting with the young patients providing essential stimulation. The nurses also have the crucial role of supporting the patients' families. Looking after a sick child 24 hours a day can be both physically and emotionally draining and the effects on the rest of the family can be extensive. Respite Nurses not only provide peace of mind for carers to take a real break, however short; but also offer experience and support through difficult periods, and sometimes final hours
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
To help raise essential funds for ROSY we on White Watch, have undertaken the challenge of walking non stop through parts of Oxfordshire for 24 hours carrying a 13.5 metre fire service ladder, attached to this will be teddy bears representing the children that ROSY care for. We will be doing this on the August bank holiday, Sunday 30th and Monday 31st 2009, and we desperately need your support in order to make the challenge worthwhilr and raise as much cash for ROSY as possible.
