CHICS Liverpool (Childrens Cancer Support) · 7 May 2013

Liverpool Chics helps to support the whole family of a child diagnosed with cancer, from diagnosis for as long as we are needed. Our Family Support worker is based at Alder Hey. We offer various events, theatre trips, parties etc to ensure all our families experience as much fun time as possible.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Our team roll call is as follows;  Martin Culley, Alan Culley, Mike Darracott, Paul Young, Paul Rigney, Tony McDonald, and Aiden Carney as navigator/technician/masseuse - all men of an age who should know better but keep on trying to prove things to themselves!

Why are we doing this...for those who don't know...Tom Culley (Marty's now 3 year old eldest son), was diagnosed with ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukaemia) in October 2011 not long before his second birthday. CHICS have supported the whole family through what has been a really tough time, as they do with many (way too many) young children and families across the area. Tom has been a total inspiration and just gets on with it - as his mum Ruth and Marty say - and is so matter-of-fact about the whole thing. Tom is now almost half way through his treatment and he is doing amazingly well.  So it must mean a lot if we (and most particularly Marty) are prepared to wear tight lycra and endure some extreme chaffing.  Yes…it will be uncomfortable but we are a hardy bunch.  Marty is also under pressure as Mrs Culley (Ruth)  has raised the bar by signing up for a 1.5km sea swim in August!

So help six ageing yet committed blokes do something worthwhile - and dig deep and donate now.
