Story
Dear friends and familly
Lalitha Iyer (a.k.a. Lilly) passed away peacefully on Saturday 30th October 2010 at 12.42 at East Cheshire Hospice in Macclesfield. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday 6th November at 14.00 at St Phillips Church, Alderley Edge, where she was a frequent visitor. All are welcome to attend. If you would like directions to the church please contact my cousin Anil on aniliyer1@gmail.com (he's a transportation engineer!)
My mum was loving and caring to all who knew her and she was never scared to give her opinion or make her wishes known. One of her wishes was that people did not send flowers, mainly because many of us are allergic to flowers. So if you are thinking of sending flowers or wish to leave a donation to a charity she beleived in, then mum felt that the best thing was to make a donation to East Cheshire Hospice who cared for her in the last months and where she and a few of us spent her last few days. You can also leave a farewell message for Lalitha
East Cheshire Hospice is only 25% funded by the government and relies heavily on donations and volunteer work. Mum and I visited their fabulous art fair just two weeks previously.
So please do give to support the work of East Cheshire as I know it is what Mum would have wanted. (see below the note on how to donate) and feel free to leave a message with the donation.
Best wishes and thank you
Nigel

I have been phoning people all day to let them know about Mum's final battle with cancer. I have been so moved by everyone's messages of support. Many of her friends have told me how caring, helpful and kind she has been to them, how her friendship has enriched their lives.
Well that was my mum all over .
She would remember if you had told her if you had liked something and she would try her utmost to make sure she could get it for you [exceptions being gold plated Rolls Royces and other such inconsequential articles! ].
The final days at the East Cheshire Hospice were so sad for us as we knew the "goodbyes" were fast approaching. However we can only but admire the dedication of all the staff and volunteers. They showed so much kindness, sensitivity & compassion for mum. There were even occasions where we indulged in some light humour too. All this helped to smooth her final pathway. I like to think mum passed away with her customary dignity and strength: she was peaceful and free.
It costs £16,000 a day to run the hospice. Until one visits a hospice one does not have any idea how fantastic they are for patients and familly alike. Therefore my husband, Robert, and myself are happy to make a donation to the East Cheshire Hospice in the hope that others will benefit too from the wonderful facilities.
Peace Lilly
Your loving daughter Sheila.
