LEPRA - Edinburgh to St Andrews Bike Ride · 4 June 2009

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare lung disease that only occurs in women. It affects just over one woman in a million. We are a self-help group providing support for patients with LAM and raise money for vital research - it is often difficult to obtain money for research into a rare disease.

Story

Hi there

The team are looking forward to taking part in this charity bike ride from Edinburgh to St Andrews and the route is 67 miles. We leave the centre of Edinburgh at 8.45am on Saturday 20th June and follow a well planned route to the Forth Road Bridge. It should be quite a sight to see over 1,000 cyclists crossing the bridge. The route then takes us over the Cleish Hills and through some of the lovliest countryside that Fife has to offer, to St Andrews, although I suspect the red faces and puffing cheeks may present us enjoying the scenery.

As well as raising money for LEPRA, I am also cycling to donate money to LAM Action. This is a UK Charity for patients & families with Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). Unfortunately there is no cure for LAM as yet. Treatment may be given to deal with the symptoms or complications (supportive treatment) or it may be given in the hope that it will reduce the rate at which LAM progresses.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: LAM Action gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thanks for visiting my website, so please sponsor me now!

with kind regards
