Story

As part of work's charity fundraising this year for Birmingham Children's Hospital (located cunningly in Birmingham), they have come up with the following challenge. In one of my more masochistic moments I decided that I would join in this year, as it is for a good cause. So now I am pestering friends, family, random strangers, and frankly anyone that isn't covered by those three categories, for donations. Many thanks to those of you that decide to donate some of your (presumably) hard earned money. There follows a Prime charity broadcast as I lack the imagination to explain it all better than them...

The 3 P’s Challenge is a mammoth challenge that takes the classic 3 peaks challenge and looks to go 3 steps further, intrigued? Well read on…

A team of us from Prime will be climbing the three mountains of Snowdon, Scarfell Pike and Ben Nevis, but intend on cycling to each mountain from our office in Solihull racking up over 1000 miles in the saddle. The final element to this challenge is to visit a local lake at each mountain and row the length of Lake Bala, Windermere and Loch Ness (which is believed to be harder than rowing the channel!).

We are embarking on such an epic challenge in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital, our nominated charity for 2015 /16. First opening its doors in 1862, Birmingham Children’s Hospital enjoys a nationwide reputation for ground-breaking research and care treating over 86,000 children each year. With 360 beds, 15 wards, 14 theatres and 61 parent and family accommodation rooms, it is the largest facility of its kind in Europe.

The whole challenge is expected to include 12 days cycling, 19 hours rowing and 3 days walking and your donation will make it all worth while.

About the charity

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.
