Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

On 6th July, a group of hardy individuals - Fergy, Lance, Steve, Lee (and maybe Shep) - will be competing in the legendary cycling Sportive called the "Marmotte".

This means 174km, with over 5000m of climbing - including the Glandon (1918m),the Telegraphe(1570m), le Galibier(2642m), and the famous 21 hairpins of the Alpe d'Huez(1880m).

We are to say the least a little bit nervous, but have been putting in the training since February, so hope to avoid the cut at the back of the pack..............

Why are we raising money for Brain Tumour Research...

On the 19th of August 2009 our friend's son, Taylan, passed away at the age of 7. He had been diagnosed with a very rare and inoperable brain tumour the previous year.

His parents, Andy and Figen, have founded Taylan's Project http://www.taylansproject.com/ and are now fundraising for http://www.braintumourresearch.org/ to raise awareness and much needed funds. In the UK more children and people under the age of 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer however research into brain tumours receives less than 1% of the national spend on cancer research.

See more about Taylan and the incredible work being done to raise awareness and funds for BrainTumour work at www.taylansproject.com and www.braintumourresearch.org
